agri benchmark – Understanding agriculture globally

UFOP expands web presentation

Berlin, 17 March 2014 – agri benchmark is an international, non-profit-oriented network in which agricultural economists, consultants, sector specialists and producers from agriculture and horticulture can interact and collaborate. Since its foundation in 2007, the Union zur Förderung von Oel- und Proteinpflanzen (UFOP) has been supporting this globally interlinked work with numerous partners. The reporting and discussion of extensive projects by agri benchmark are an integral element of the UFOP Technical Commission's agenda "Economy and Market".

Internationally harmonised methods allow agricultural and horticultural enterprises, production systems and their profitability to be analysed and compared. The specific questions associated with promotion of the UFOP concerning international developments in oilseed cultivation are an important source for evaluating the competitive position of the German and European rapeseed or oilseed producers and marketers. In this way, agri benchmark can make an important contribution to answering strategic questions by key players in politics, agriculture and agribusiness in an effective manner.

The UFOP has dedicated a special menu item to the agri benchmark project on its homepage (German). The link www.ufop.de/agrar-info/agri-benchmark presents facts and figures regarding agriculture in general as well as research and results for oilseed production specifically. A highlight is the interactive visualisation of international rapeseed, soybean and sunflower cultivation for the period 2008 to 2012.
